As someone who ventured out of a small town that was very close-minded to the outside world, I understand the value of embracing different viewpoints. This is why the mission of Georgetown resonates with me. Additionally, advocating for the underserved and treatment of the whole person are principals that Georgetown values which directly align with my own.
Throughout my life, I have been a part of and witnessed the consequences of being a minority. For example, about 1% of my high school identified as a minority race, and anyone who did not fall into the white, wealthy class status was shunned.
