Diversity is Everywhere
It is important to understand that the understanding of diversity is about much more than just being open-minded towards others and avoiding judgment or stereotyping. America prides itself on the values of freedom, equality, and respect of human dignity. Cultural diversity reinforces the idea that every person can make a unique and positive influence on society because of their differences. We need to make the world a place where diversity is celebrated; acknowledged and respected; contributions from all groups are encouraged; various cultural ideas are accepted and valued; differences are admired; and people are empowered to achieve their full potential.

Diversity makes you a more conscious and well-rounded individual. Attending such a diverse university made what I was learning in this course that much more relevant. I work in customer service and have contact with so many different people. The restaurant I work at is very close to a university, so we get a huge variety of people coming in. It is essential to approach every customer with the respect you would give to anyone no matter their race, religion, ethnicity, ect. Mor Barak, a professor at the University of Southern California, describes an inclusive workplace as an environment that welcomes and utilizes diversity at all levels. Inclusion refers to relationships between individuals and groups, employees and customers, and organizations as well as communities. It is important for relationships to be strong and consistent in order to be successful in the workplace as well as everywhere
