Domestic Violence draft

“any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behavior, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality. The abuse can encompass but is not limited to psychological, physical, sexual, financial, emotional” (GOV.UK, 2013). Domestic abuse arises across society, regardless of age, gender, race, sexuality, wealth and geography. The figure shows that mainly men have violence towards women, however, children are affected directly and indirectly in same points (GOV.UK, 2013).

Peers, family members, and partners influence individual’s behavior and contribute to their experience. Prevention strategies at this level may comprise parenting prevention programs, peer programs considered to reduce conflict, foster problem-solving skills, and endorse healthy relationships. At the community level, social relationships occur and seek to identify the characteristics of these settings which is related to becoming victims of violence. Such setting is schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Thus, prevention strategies at this level affect the social and physical environment. Such as by decreasing social isolation, improving economic and housing opportunities in neighborhoods and also the climate, processes, and policies within school and workplace settings. The fourth level looks at the broad societal factors that help create a climate in which violence is encouraged or inhibited. These factors include social and cultural norms that support violence as an acceptable way to resolve conflicts. Other large societal factors include the health, economic, educational and social policies that help to maintain economic or social inequalities between groups in society.

Domestic violence has a significant impact on Public Health, this will impact on an individual, social and global issues. Such as the long-term effects on their physical and emotional behaviors. It will also …show more content…

In countries that experience war, poverty and natural disaster have the high level of physical and sexual violence. Statistics show that many women who experience violence believe that this issue an acceptable and normal behavior.
