In chapter 10 of the 3rd rule from, Bud,Not Buddy. bud introduce the rule 87 for bud to thrive. It help bud by: “He said, “ I’ve got a problem and i need you to help me figure it out.” This rule is about, “When a adults tells you they need your help with a problem get ready to be trick most times this means they just want you to go fetch something for them.”
The book “The Other Wes Moore” talks about two young kids that has same name, lives in the same neighborhood, but has different destinies. The author Wes mother Joy was a single mother, as the other Wes mother Mary by different circumstances. Also, an important play roll at the book is that both mothers wants to give them education and be successful for the author and the other Wes. Both Wes are going in the same path of getting into trouble and being rebels. They are acting unreasonably by taking the wrong decisions they might.
The Whipping Boy is a Newberry award-winning book by Sid Fleischman that follows the story of Prince Brat (as he is known by everyone behind his back) and his whipping boy, Jemmy as they embark upon an action packed adventure when they run away from the castle. The chapters in this book are short and include a few pictures. The story is pretty action packed as it happens in about a twenty-four hour period. The story has a good moral to it about two unlikely friends from different backgrounds coming together, learning more about each other, changing their ways, and becoming friends.
In “How to Handle a Bully,” by Kathiann Kowalski, an experienced journalist, Kowalski reports the different strategies to stop bullying. She informs that bullying is at its peak in the late teenage years, but can start in an early age. Kowalski concurs that girls intimidates as much as boys; however, they do it differently. She explores many reasons why bullying occurs at the first place, and who starts bullying. Kowalski exemplifies the situations that victims could be in, and the solution on how to handle the bully.
Quite often in this nonfiction work, the author, Jay Nordlinger breaks away from the formal format that nonfiction works tend to take and offers a brief paragraph or two to clear the readers’ minds. In the midst of facts and figures of different dictators and children, Nordlinger addresses his audience, explains his writing methods and offers guidance. In these passages, Nordlinger breaks away from the chains of formal language and uses personal pronouns. For instance in Mao’s chapter, he states, “I will now present to you a blizzard of names, and those names tend to be tricky to the Western eye” (Nordlinger 66).
In An Hour Before Daylight, Jimmy Carter reflects upon his life as he grew up in rural Georgia. The memoir highlights the people who helped shape his life while he was attending school and working on his family’s farm. Throughout An Hour Before Daylight, Carter conveys the idea that racism is a learned behavior by utilizing regional dialect, vivid imagery, and unforgettable experiences to create tone and structure that allow the audience to truly understand what it was like to live in the South while segregation still existed. Within each chapter, Carter uses regional dialect to develop realistic characterizations of people who played a significant role in his upbringing.
Have you ever experienced a good or bad relationship? In the book SchooledTM by Gordon Korman, Cap (the main character) has many friendships. Some of his relationships started off awful, and grew to be positive. The opposite occurred too. All the major characters in Schooled build a relationship with Cap, some good, some bad.
Ferris Bueller’s Day off tells the story of a high school senior who employs deception and manipulative tactics to skip classes with his best friend and girlfriend. Meanwhile, his sister and the school’s principle work separately to expose him as a fraud. During the first scene of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Jean and Ferris are at odds while he’s rendering a performance to convince his parents that he is too sick to attend school. While convincing his parents, Jean stands nearby expressing disdain through body language like explicit hand gestures, foot tapping, hands placed on her hips; and verbal challenges like criticizing her parents’ decisions to let Ferris stay home.
Against School by John Gatto is an essay that attempts to persuade the reader that public education fails to educate its students. The main way Gatto tries to persuade his audience is by presenting anecdotal evidence and by showing the historical narrative to the education system of the Untied States. Gatto attempts also attempts to reach out to his audience by referring to commonalities in the public education system that have been experienced by many people. Overall the essay is persuasive but lacks any practical authority. The first thing the author does is provide background, background on himself and the situation with education in the United States; and, this is what the author primarily does.

The two books, The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 by Knaut and The World They Made Together by Sobel are essentially the same story. The authors tell of two different sets of people in two different places and times, but the natures of the encounters are remarkably similar. The authors take care to highlight the worldviews that were mashed together in seventeenth century New Mexico and in eighteenth century Virginia, and both authors talk about how worldview affected their respective subjects and decided the nature of the interactions between peoples. These are excellent books to compare because both are stories of one group of people subjugating another, and both are encounters that helped form the present day America. A Night to Remember Paper Josiah Hill 2nd block odd The world revolves a class system categorizing people by how much money a person has, or how much a person makes in a certain time period. Back in the day, there were first class and second class; along with third, which is similar to the first class, middle class, and low class used today. Even during a crisis, for example the titanic, the classes are kept in placed. The cause of this may have been due to how much money an individual has, power, and privileges.
Overall, A Night Divided was a fantastic book! I definitely suggest it to anyone above the age of nine years old. A Night Divided was written by Jennifer A. Nielsen, and the genre is historical fiction, I have read many books over the course of twelve years and this book was definitely one of my favorites! A Night Divided is about a girl named Gerta being seperated from her family overnight, and escaping to the other side of the Berlin Wall to them. Gerta and her older brother, Fritz, take it upon themselves to build a tunnel secretly under an abandoned building that is in between the Berlin Wall’s two sides, along the way there are many plot twists, close calls, surprising events, and alot of action on every page.
