School’s everyday have the probability of a student coming in with a shirt that has racial or sexual slurs that may offend people. Uniforms and dress codes could prevent this from happening by having everyone wear the same thing or limiting sayings on t-shirts and sweatshirts. This also could stop some disagreement in the school’s such as a certain football team or college. In addition to the pros, bullying could be cut down a ton. One con is that it is hard to find out who teens are when they cannot wear their own style (Giles). Teen years are the years where teens find out who they are. With uniforms and dress codes they cannot or are limited to finding out their true selves. It is hard to find out who you are if you cannot wear personal styles and accessories. Another con is that dress codes take away sorts of freedom (Ankersen). Dress codes take away our right of dress which we should get no matter where we go. We cannot dress how we want without getting punished for something about our outfit. Teens cannot have certain hair colors or tattoos because it goes against the dress code.
