If it didn’t come to mind, but school uniforms are actually a violation of the First Amendment of the United States. Many people believe that switching to school uniforms will be beneficial, however school uniforms have many negative affects. Uniforms restrict freedom of expression, they actually increase the rate of bullying and they cost an outrageous price. There are no benefits to switch to school uniforms infact there are many downsides.
People believe that school uniforms are a necessity, but they actually violate freedom of expression. People like to be special and wear what they want. In the article School Uniforms: Panacea or Band-Aid? Connie Terry states, “She doesn't want to have to wear what everyone else is wearing. It doesn't make her feel good about herself; it doesn't make her feel special." People believe that they shouldn’t have to wear what someone else tells them they have to. The real reason behind this is because not everyone can look flattering in a school uniform.
