Today the most common way to travel is to drive. It can be cost effective and in my opinion allows you the most freedom to do things in your time and you can stop and go as you please. However no matter what time of year you are driving there are certain similarities and differences when it comes to driving conditions.
Winter, especially in north Dakota, can produce some very dangers driving conditions. It can go from above freezing to below freezing quick. This means that snow melts and then freezes which creates ice on the road. Sometimes it’s black ice where you don’t see until it’s too late. Then as it snows you get snow packed on top of ice and that is very dangerous. As is snows more and the wind blows the snow creates snow drifts and low visibility, these can all cause dangerous conditions.

Summer means farming and construction which means the moving of large equipment that moves slowly which can cause you to have to slow down fast and unexpectedly. Along with construction comes the possibility of detours and road closures which can cause frustrations and often times gravel to be on roads.
Summer and winter driving does have some similarities. You always need to be aware of driving conditions by checking road maps or listening to the news. The most important thing to remember is that you always need to be aware of other drivers no matter the conditions.
