Dulce Et Decorum Est in relation to Freud’s Psychoanalysis This poem in regards World War 1 can be adequately linked to the Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis theory. This is because the poem discusses trends that occurred during the war with a rich flow of literary expertise (Canteburry, et al., 2014). The use of personification portrays the way Owen sees this scene and how the image he is painting for the readers is that these men are being herded like a bunch of animals. This quote also suggests that, as animals they have no sense of understanding they just do as their owner tells them so, much like the army. This juxtaposition verse ‘demented choirs of wailing shells;’ is a metaphor which suggest pain and heartache and how that can be portrayed by sounds rather than movements.
