I think that The Giver by Lois Lowry is a Dystopia, and here is why. The first reason, is because Jonas has to receive memories and he does not know if it is good or bad, and if it is bad he can have very serious effects like throwing up or spitting blood. I transferred a memory of a child taken from its parents. That was the first one. She appeared stunned at its end." For example, the rules where the jackets had to have buttons the back, and where you cannot share your experiences. “Objects are not to be removed from the recreational area and snacks should be eaten not hardened” (23), another super strict rule example is “Children are not allowed to ride bikes before they become 9.” (13) Another bad rule is that release is not punishable if it is a elderly or young child.
