It was very casual, like a conversation you would have with friends when you want to vent frustrations and I got confused with the flow of the writing several times. I did also find seeing the examples of the course syllabus for the college course and the unit outline for the high school course about the same topic interesting. It helped me see the varying ways the same topics can be approached and detailed for the age range of the students. I will admit though, that the college course syllabus made more sense to
1. In establishing a constructive climate for his or her class, what kind of structure has each professor put in place? Professor Gardner has given each student a set of guidelines and rules he expects in his classroom.
Build positive relationships with students will help establish a more comfortable classroom environment. Michie have put a great amount of effort at trying to get to know his students on a more personal level, such as through individual home visiting and personal questionnaires about each student’s likes and dislikes about school. In order for students to feel that the information is relevant to them, teachers should make connections and relate to real life examples. Michie uses his past classroom experiences to connect to his students and further sparks class discussion. Michie would try to relate to what the students were going through in their lives to get to know them better.
In The School by Donald Barthelme, it’s a humorous yet dark story about things that happen in school. The theme of the story is about death and to some extent responsibility. The story gives several types of human emotions and expression of death. The story is narrated by Edgar, the teacher, he talks about everything that is happening in his class specifically having to deal with death. Edgar explains the death of my things and doesn’t seem to care about them happening, he’s more curious and focus about death in general.
Since I will be teaching 7-12 grade levels, I chose to use a strategy that will be more age appropriate for my students and lead to more appropriate student behavior and achievement. For preadolescents and adolescents, a useful strategy to use would be to have a student/students observe social encounters. Because students of this specific age range are still learning how to process their emotions, a visual representation of correct social behavior
There are several aspects that I need to improve, but establishment of eye contact is important in any speech. By establishing eye contact, I will gain audience attention and keep their interest throughout the
Looking down is more of a sign of respect; therefore, students were not making eye contact
For some students it is necessary and extremely beneficial for the student to receive the one on one attention. The one on one attention allows a student to get a more “personalized” learning experience. In some classes, such as physics, the teacher tried to help everyone individually. In other classes such as
This theory was made by Michael Argyle (1925- 2002), who was a social psychologist. In the late 1960s he studied social skills, body language, non-verbal communication and interpersonal behaviour. In this study, he found that non-verbal signals can be much more important and useful than verbal communication when trying to trigger peoples’ attitudes and feelings. His research showed and found that the stronger the relationship between the people communicating so with close friends for example the much better eye contact. However, when the relationship is not very strong so when speaking to a stranger people don’t have very good eye contact and they tend to look away when talking.
This paper explores the relation between dissimilar cultural backgrounds and communication competence. The dialogue of cultures, in its broadest sense, occurs all the time. Is this a complete sentence? People from different cultures interpret similar and dissimilar views from other cultures. Associating: Communication Competence and Cultural Background Previous researchers have found that for a person to achieve (complex expression recommend using do) better and more effective communication competence, it is necessary to develop skills that allow an appropriate(complex expression, omit) participation in specific situations.
In my observing on Tuesday, September 27, I studied my Geometry class from 8:21-9:08 and my Accounting 1 class from 12:21-1:08. In these observations, I looked for verbal feedback from my classmates, positive or negative nonverbal feedback from them, and how the teacher spoke to the audience. My Geometry class is my less-focused class, while my Accounting 1 class is very focused and eager to learn. In my Geometry class, there was a little verbal feedback, but not very enthusiastic or anxious.
Women are usually confortable speaking with someone side by side and are more comfortable being in close proximity with other women. Eye contact is considered to be a type of nonverbal communication. Women typically use more direct eye contact during communication in order to make a strong connection and develop relationships. Men, however, use eye contact most commonly as a challenge of power or
Eye contact also plays a vital role in effective communication. There are times when we experience words that come out of our mouth and the ways we communicate through our body language are totally different. In this kind of situation, the receiver has to determine whether to believe verbal or nonverbal message. Regularly the receiver would select the nonverbal as it is more natural and it truly displays the speaker’s true feeling and intention. The gestures such as the way we sit, how fast and how loud we talk and how much eye contact we make send strong messages to the receiver.

Communication is such a key part of life that I often tell to a person that “Its no use of someone if he/she really don’t know by associates people in their work place or area of field”. Communication makes us to be known of others, good or bad that depends on usability of a person communication. And, it is up to each of us to learn to communicate well with those who are important to us.
There are certain said and unsaid rules and regulations that teacher and student follow. For example the student is aware that he or she has to give respect to the teacher and they know that there is a certain way they have to sit in class while being taught or for that matter standing up from their places greeting the teacher when they enter the class. The teacher knows that there is a particular way to address the class or help a student out. The teacher knows that the only way she or he can efficiently convey information or instructions is if the students are able to understand him or her thus it is very important for a mutual understanding to be established between them. These are all considered as symbols of
