"The Lost Children of Rockdale County" speaks about a syphilis outbreak in 1966 in an Atlanta suburb that affected over 200 teenagers and revealed their lives unknown to parents such as things like group sex, drinking, drugs and violence. Some of these individuals were as young as twelve and thirteen years old. Although the film begins with an inspection on how and why the syphilis outbreak happened, it becomes in the end a more deeper observation of the world of teenagers and their relationships within one another and with their parents. The film associates bold conversations with the parents of teens, along with interviews with community leaders and educators and with the medical professionals who investigated this syphilis outbreak.

Atticus Finch was a model father created by Harper Lee in the best-selling novel “To Kill a Mockingbird.” He was an important figure in the Maycomb, Alabama Community. He raised his children, Jean Louise Finch (Scout) and Jeremy Atticus Finch (Jem) alone as his wife passed away when Scout was little. He taught them a wide set of morals, disciplined them, and became a mentor for his children. Atticus allowed his children to be individuals and did not try to change who they were.
Edith Dircksey Cowan (1861-1932), social worker, politician and the first woman to be elected to an Australia parliament was born on 2 August 1861 in Glengarry, Western Australia. Her powerful leadership in overcoming the barriers of woman’s public participation in the 19th century was induced by her own personal tragedy. Cowan was the second child of original settlers Kenneth Brown, pastoralist and his first wife Mary Eliza Dircksey Wittenoom, a teacher; A well connected, pious and conservative family. She was able to live a joyful and uninhibited early childhood.

Contrary to Hamlet’s selfish motives, Atticus bases his decision by his selfless character to protect the wellbeing of Jem, Scout, and Tom Robinson, but Hamlet only focuses on what’s best for him which in this case is drawing the pros and cons of suicide. In “How ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ Changed My Life”, Ethan Gilsdorf compares the differences in nerd culture today and when he was a young adult. The purpose of this article is to analyse how Dungeons and Dragons and, by extention, games in general have changed over the years. He writes to other old D&D players and newer players, showing how the game has and hasn’t changed over the years. The genre is part narrative, part analysis, switching between the two to better explain his point. Gilsdorf has uses his personal experience to help the reader understand the differences in D&D from over twenty years ago and the game now.

Child’s Play, written by Higuchi Ichiyo, is a short novel centred around the growth of children, particularly those associated with the pleasure quarters. The story takes place over a few days, nevertheless, we are given an idea on the backgrounds of the three main characters, Shōta, Midori, and Nobu, and watch them gradually lose their childlike innocence. Although not explicitly stated, the last three paragraphs suggest that all three protagonists have followed the footsteps of their parents and in Midori’s case, her older sister. This essay discusses the impending tragic future of children who are destined to take after the occupations of their family.
Howells’ “Editha” is a story about a young woman who is insisting that the man she is marrying, George, enlist in the upcoming war. Editha views the war as an act of heroism, which will prove George’s love to her. Editha refers to the war as the “Glory war”, this shows the unrealistic and idealistic view that she has regarding warfare. She does not see that war brings death, bloodshed, and conflict to those who chose to fight in it, and she expects George to haphazardly enlist. George views the upcoming war in a truthful realistic manner with the understanding of the consequences that accompany enlisting.
