Eleven million people were killed during the Holocaust 1.1 million were children six million of those victims were Jewish. Other groups targeted by the Nazis were Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuals, disabled people, and Roma.
Hermine Santrouschitz born on February 15, 1909 in Vienna (Austria) was sent to the Netherlands by her parents after World War ll. She was sent to a foster family where she was given the name Miep Gies by her foster parents Miep loved the Netherlands so much that her parents gave her permission to stay on with her Dutch family. Later in Miep’s life she became a secretary with the Opekta company working for Otto Frank making jam, Miep instantly became friends with the Frank Family. Learning from our consequences of actions is not only important but it gives you the chance to change your mistake it could also prevent it from happening again and makes you a little stronger in the inside. An inaction could just make you wonder what you could’ve done and cause feeling towards your idea.
Of the eight hiders Otto Frank was the only one to survive the Auschwitz camp. Resistance might have told others to act if they were to see anything suspicious or their lives would of been in danger they had a choice to make action or inaction. Miep Gies did everything in her power to help her friends she was risking her life and husbands inaction was no friend of Miep Gies. If nothing was done if Miep had done nothing to help Anne Frank, would have never made history Anne’s diary would of never been written Miep Gies wouldn’t have been known their story would have stuck with them. Miep Gies made an impactful difference during the Holocaust giving Anne’s diary to her father was probably the most important thing she did. It was as if Otto Frank still had his daughter by him and something to remember and want she felt. Going back to how we could prevent things like this from ever happening, which is still going on today it could be much worse now than it ever was and many aren’t aware about this, as I’m writing this down word for word some could be dying, suffering, or could already be dead.
