Marion Blumenthal-Lazan, Holocaust survivor and author, deserves the medal of honor. A symbol of how hope can get you through anything. She has been through the unbelievable since she was four up to the age of thirteen, and will deal with the trauma the rest of her life. Her mother, brother, herself and millions of others who went through the torment, she told a true story and definitely deserves the medal of honor.
Marion had never seen the peace of the world, she grew up mostly in the holocaust. The first chapter of her book “Four Perfect Pebbles” her mother states “When you were just a baby in that small town in Germany...” She never saw peace till years later when she had grown up.

But when she gets old and can finally have memories, she gets thrown into a nightmare.
She also showed a tremendous amount of integrity and self-control throughout her life. When she was either eight or nine she got hot soup dumped on her leg during surprise inspection, which they were not supposed to have. Most children would have screamed and cried at that moment, but Marion stay silent, she stayed still. She knew if they had caught her and her mother that they would have died at that moment. Think about it, would you have the will power, the self-control to not even flinch in pain?
Now the other candidates have done great things, yes this is true, but is it worth a medal of honor? Anne Frank’s book is already known all over, 2nd nonfiction next to the bible, but her diary only told the story of hiding, not of what happened. Miep already has known fame. Marion though, has worked so hard, lost so much to spread the message of her discrimination. That’s why she deserves the medal of honor instead of the others.
