1. Name and describe the elements of colonial society. There are many elements of a colonial society. One element of colonial society was self-government. All the colonies had to have self-government because the crown was to far away and allowed for the colonies themselves to make choices better for the people in each of those colonies. Next, another element in the colonies was religious freedom. Religious freedom was mainly in the northern colonies. These colonies have this because their founders were persecuted in England and came to the colonies to avoid abuse. Lastly, another element of colonial society was land. First, the Native Americans assisted the colonist in the beginning. For example, in Virginia the Algonquian people gave food when the colonist began to starve. Another way the Native Americans interacted with the colonist was war. The French and Indian war is an example. The cause of the war was colonist moving west for search of land. By doing this Native Americans kept on getting pushed farther and farther west, until the Indians decided to fight for their land. After the French and Indian war Tribes launched attacks on cities, until the colonist fought back and decimated the population. Lastly, the Native Americans interacted with colonist was by becoming colonist. Some Native Americans either decided to become colonist or the woman married a colonist. This sometime was the other way around like Native Americans kidnaping woman and taking them t be their mates. Overall, the Native Americans interacted with the colonist in many ways. 3. What impact did disease have on the lives of Native Americans, African Americans and European colonists? The diseases had an impact on many groups of people. First, the Native Americans were decimated by the diseases brought by the Europeans. The many disease that caused the most death was smallpox. Lastly, the colonist and African Americans had relatively small amount of deaths from diseases. This was because Europeans and Africans were exposed to each other’s diseases.
