Hi Nicole! I had the opportunity to watch Glen Weybright too, but with a different client, Mia. Glen is an outstanding clinician, as he is able to truly connect with his clients and make them feel very comfortable. He has become one of my favorite clinician’s to watch on MCN. It’s interesting that you bring up that the boy’s family was involved in the session because Mia had her mom participating in her session too.

When I joined AVID in seventh grade I was amazed how AVID works and how it can be used every day. Not only AVID helps you with your grades, but it also helps you to be more organized and a hard-working student. AVID helped me discover my full potential by showing me that I can always do better. What I mean by this is that in sixth grade I was not in AVID, I made all A’s and B’s. In seventh grade when I was in AVID, I made all A’s.

I learned about Occidental from my family, my cousin Brian Smith is the offensive coordinator for Oxy's football team and his wife Liane Smith works for Oxy as well. When I visited Oxy I was able to experience the school for what it really is, an amazing community. Everyone I talked to, students and staff, were very friendly and made me feel right at home. I was able to attend the homecoming barbecue and football game and it really left me with a great feeling about the school. My main interest in Occidental is that it is a liberal arts school.
This lesson showed how I used tiered instruction when creating word problems for 2nd graders. I also adjusted this lesson and applied it to a 3rd grade lesson on word problems. The use of tired instruction used tired instruction and questioning. Students who needed more support received clearer problems and sentences frames, while other students received unclear problem and needed to create their own sentences.
Coming back to my spot this time was a bit different than the last one. My last visit to my spot I had so much time to sit and reflect, but this time, as the semester has begun to pick up. My view hasn’t changed much, leaves have maybe changed colors slightly, but not much at all. There’s more trash in the area today, which is unfortunate. There are many beer cans, which makes me think that there was a party that moved out into the woods at some point of the night, only for the people to leave their trash out without thinking about how that affects the environment.
Also, the background music wasn’t helpful either. It distracted me as the person read. In conclusion, I believe the play is better than the audio. My three reasonings were, I can visualize, hear the voices, and see the reactions that are happening.
When engaging in an interactive read aloud as a teacher, being confident and comfortable in the situation is prevelant for successfully engaging your students to learning and understanding. Being in room 201C and just the enclosed environment of the room made doing this very difficult for me, and I know that it shows in my reading. I also know that there were some positives to take out of this long process to becoming a teacher and improving my ability to do read alouds. I wanted to focus on improving some of the aspects that Dr. Napoli had informed me that I could do better with after our read aloud out in the field. I believe I did a good job at showing the pictures to everyone in the room, even though it might be hard to tell on the video, but with the pictures being an important aspect of a fictional picture book, they deserve just as much attention as the words in the story.
Frankenstein Written by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein features a creation gone awry in a classic, poetic piece of literature. Shelley paints a dark, sinister book which hopes to expose humanity as bleak and exclusive. Starting off, a man named Robert Walton sends his sister Margaret several letters detailing his adventure as the captain of a ship sailing towards the North Pole. Walton notes that he met a man by the name of Victor Frankenstein, whom he found stranded after attempting to catch another sledge pulled by dogs on a stretch of ice. Once the crew of the ship rescues Frankenstein, he details his life over the past (time interval) to Walton as he recovers from ailments only partially suffered from his encounter with the frigid weather.
Everyone belongs to a social class. Whatever reality you been born in, is going to shape the way you believe and act. Each individual is different and unique, however, is not unknown that the experiences we had over our life shape our identity. In the movie Elysium, the Earth has been contaminated. The rich people flew away to a new land created in the space named Elysium, which left those with less money behind.
Labov (1972) suggest conversational narratives is a fully verballised oral narrative of personal experience that should have two specific functions, namely referential function and evaluative function. Referential function could be found from the narratives temporally sequenced framework of abstract, orientation, complication, resolution and code while evaluative function the narrator presents particular perspective to evaluate through the audience responses. For instance, Labov asked adolescent African-Americans to tell him about a dangerous situation that they have experienced, evaluative effects are found through the narrator, e.g. external evaluation from adding an explanation or additional description to highlight particular point, embedded evaluation from putting evaluation comments into the characters in the narrative, as well as different kinds of comparisons and intensifiers, like gestures, sound effects, quantifiers, repetition, all of them provided emphasis and created a climax of the narrator. Labov (1972) emphasis evaluative devices enable to tell us whether the story is terrifying, dangerous, wild, crazy, amusing, hilarious, wonderful or even strange enough to be reported. Toolan (2006) mostly agress Labov’s concept on report actions/events in its order and the telling sequence, however, Toolan (2006) believes some part of the
