What is a scientific question? A scientific question is the second step in the scientific method, in which the experimenter asks a question that can be answered by creating hypothesis. In this article the scientific question that they are addressing is a new technique that lets scientists edit DNA. This is raising difficult questions in transforming science. In this experiment Niakan placed a human embryo, she will steady the embryo a fertilized egg that has not began cell division. “With the other, she will maneuver a tiny pipette up against the embryo and inject a specially prepared liquid. If all goes as expected, the liquid will alter the DNA at the core of the cell--literally rewriting the embryo's genetic code. At that point, Niakan will have effectively edited this potential human being. She isn't interested in creating designer humans; instead, she's trying to learn how healthy humans are made, by identifying which DNA sequences are crucial to helping a human embryo develop normally.”( Niakan.) Nikan is trying to override nature's selection, by injecting her own design. This may be a new design, but it is transforming in and how we treat diseases. …show more content…

Methods that were used to conduct the study some include newer methods like “zinc fingers” and “TALENs,” have recently dominated genetic editing, but these still lack accuracy. To conduct Nikon's experiment included testing multiple embryos, but her test keeps growing due to the new discoveries of new scientist and new developments that keep changing and improving her design. With Nikon's plan to use CRISPR on her embryos, she will not allow them to develop beyond 200 to 300 cells. She will not allow this to be tested beyond seven days because it prohibits testing past 14 days. Did they support or reject their
