On March 4, 2017, I had the privilege of attending a seminar held by Dr. Gregg Steinberg, Emotional Toughness Training." The seminar was intriguing , motivating and encouraging. One of the most inspiring facts presented in the seminar, that would be useful in nearly every industry or nearly every organization would be emotional balance. According to (Mahanta, M. 2005), emotional balance is an individual's capacity to perceive emotions, and utilize those emotions in more constructive cognitive thought. We all encounter ups and downs in life. We stay on an emotional rollercoaster. We feel at times, that its just easier to shut our emotions out, and once we shut our emotions out, we have no way of dealing with them effectively. According to (Gregg …show more content…

I have been an employee for Attorney (Judge) Wilson for over fifteen years. Mrs. Wilson has been an attorney for over thirty five years and a judge for over twenty years. Being an attorney and judge are prestigious professions, and they are held to an extremely high standard on and off the job. While working under Judge Wilson for so many years and working in the court system, I have noticed that most lawyers deal with a lot of anxiety issues, stress issues and health issues, including Judge Wilson. The decisions they make on a daily basis keeps their anxiety level at a high. According to (Gregg Steinberg, personal communication, March 4, 2017), stress and anxiety effects our lives and attacks people differently. You will either choke from stress or fight. According to (Lynn, 1999), successful lawyers are intelligent, driven to achieve , and often frustrated when they are forced to deal with people who are not.
