Happiness. It is not measurable or tradeable. Although, everyone has their own definition of happiness. It’s the one thing that people always seek to find. My personal definition of happiness is being able to live life the way you want to by doing what you desire and love. Ever since we were little, we were asked what we wanted to do in our future. What we want to be when we grow up. Where do we see ourselves in 5 or 10 year. We get asked these questions numerous times over the year and we usually answer with what will make ourselves happy in the future. Our choices reflect on what will happen in the future, we “have the ability to change the trajectory of [our lives] - to create [our] own American Dream” (LeVan). There is always a time that comes around where our mood isn’t the happiest. We form an attitude towards others or stay quiet and isolate ourselves because we are down. In life we have our ups and downs, but we learn “to make the most [out of] the good times - but also to cope effectively with the inevitable bad times in order to experience the best possible life overall” (Williamson). We as people learn from our mistakes and make lessons out of the bad choices we made in the past. Like I said from the beginning, we want to live our lives to the fullest without any regrets. When you are at a concert or somewhere when you are so overjoyed, you do not think about anything bad in your life. You live in the moment and are filled with so much happiness that you appreciate the moment you are living in right then and there, you have no regrets. As we grow older we learn how to cope with the negative moments that we gain at certain times. Even though there will be bad times in some situations, just know that this is your life and your happiness. You do what makes you happy and enjoy the good times while it lasts.
