Goals and Philosophy:

“The life of a designer is a life of fight. Fight against the ugliness. Just like a doctor fights against disease. For us, the visual disease is what we have around, and what we try to do is cure it somehow with design.” (Vignelli)

Inspire, captivate, inform. These are the things Graphic Designers bring to the world with their designs. They can tell a story with just one image. Creating and telling stories is my passion. Once I learned of graphic design and what could be accomplished, I found my calling. I didn't choose design, it called to me. When first starting out, I felt lost, design blocked. Every at school I learn new abilities that can better my old designs. I am always updating my portfolio, making sure it is showing the very best of my skills as a designer. Above all I believe you are your biggest competitor. What do you need to do to ready yourself for this field? Do I need to push myself harder? Put in more time? You need to be the best that you can be and show a potential employer that you are the best choice. I am working towards polishing up my skills and knowledge to better my future in graphic design.

Tools of the trade:

Technology is ever expanding. Everyday there seems to be new software or ways of creating design. A graphic designers need to have the ability to adapt to an ever changing world. Something that may work one month could change in a second. Design is much more than just Photoshop. There are so many different layers or tiers. Such as type, creating vector graphics, even changing images to fit your design. Not to mention the million different ways colors come into play. “Know your colors!” You must also know your software. A designer can sketch all day but putting it into the digital work takes patience and practice.

It seems like everyday I learn something new in the Adobe CC programs. I like to explore the possibilities of what I can do for future designs.
