English 1010 was an amazing class, during the period that the class was going on I was able to develop my communication skills and become aware of the world around me and how individuals operate according to what the society wants from them. The English 1010 class helped in developing a new aspect of reasoning, analyzing and drawing adequate conclusion. Furthermore I was to know the kind of informations I can take in and avoid wrong assumptions. Most class assignment were based on distinct formats which was a little difficult for me in the beginning but eventually I was able to follow the procedures which help improve my grades in other classes too. So far in AP Language and Composition, we have learned how to critically analyze texts using rhetorical and literary analysis. I feel comfortable with literary analysis because of how frequently and often I have been doing it in the past couple of years. Regarding rhetorical analysis we have learned diverse types of appeals used in rhetoric, appealing to a reader’s emotions using pathos, an ethical appeal using ethos, or appealing to a reader’s logic using logos. These skills and concepts are completely new to me and I am still beginning to understand how to use these appeals in my writing strategically. However, I feel more confident in finding these appeals in other rhetorical texts, including ads and speeches, because of how much practice
English 1101 compositions 1 and FYE 1220 are both a freshman college course that’s required. English 1101 is taught in the writing and linguistics course. The goals for students in English learning outcomes, will expand flexible strategies to achieve to defined a reason of writing. Also it will formulate texts to look at their ideas in relations to those from a range of sources; and respond to different rhetorical situations and genre conventions taught by Professor A shows how it’ll make it a learning center course. In spite of that Professor D teaches FYE this seminar is “Math goes to Hollywood”

Why Comp I is So Valuable I believe that there are several reasons why Composition I is a valuable course for college students to take. Some of the reasons Comp I is so valuable are 1) it improves your writing skills, 2) it teaches us the different types of writing, and most importantly 3) it teaches us to manage our time wisely and effectively. Without the course Comp I, I believe that students wouldn’t be prepared or as prepared to take on the real world. Writing skills are something that most people don’t just have.
I took AP English Language and Composition during the 2016-17 school year. My overall grade in the class was an A. Participating in this class taught me invaluable lessons about how to convey my ideas clearly both in written and spoken word. In-class essays and the rigor of larger projects taught me to focus not only on what I was writing, but also how I was writing it. Techniques for editing and reading that I learned in AP Lang have made it easier to read my writing with more self-awareness, and also to consider how it will be interpreted by my audience and what I can do to influence that interpretation. Having taken AP Lang, I now feel more confident approaching nearly any English-related assignment, and know that I have the skills necessary
Super Smash Bros is one of the most iconic games to evolve in the ever changing world of video games. From the original Nintendo 64 title to recently released Wii U version, Super Smash Bros has drawn players far and wide to battle each other to the death. The new Super Smash Bros for Wii U has a particularly large fan base, spanning from the simple recreational gamer to the more competitive and strategic player. Super Smash Bros for Wii U excels in graphics, variety, multiplayer gameplay, and room for player improvement, but lacks in its story mode, over exaggeration of certain aspects, and implementation of Amibos.
Transitioning from high school to college can be overwhelming. Before English 1301, I did not worry about preparing for college. I quickly realized that my little background in writing essays was not enough for college courses. Writing is not just a skill that I will need for English classes. In college, I will have to use effective writing skills in all my classes to complete research papers, essay tests and communicate with professors.
Throughout the semester we have worked on multiple unit papers. Each paper had different categories of learning objectives to accomplish. These categories consist of rhetorical knowledge, critical reading/critical thinking, academic writing conventions, and the writing process. Two essays that I found to be helpful in completing the course objectives were the unit 2 and unit 3 essays. I met some of the course objectives, but also struggled with some.
During my college career I have been doing a wide variety of writing. All of which have assisted shaping as well as molding me into an effective writer. Some of the classes that helped improve my limits to excel as a writer are my English 280 class, intro to Computer Science class, and lastly Juvenile Justice Class. I have done a few segments of writing in the three semesters of law enforcement class that I have taken here at WIU. Never would I have thought that the three major writing assignments that would shape and influence me into the writer I am today would come from of my LEJA classes, but they have.
The weekly reading assignments were very helpful. Some of the topics were great refreshers of common mistakes made when writing; these knocked some of the cobwebs in my mind loose. The other topics with sample writings gave me an idea of what to do. The instructor feedback and the revision recommendations were probably the most helpful tools in my composition process.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
I am taking this class because I need an English credit, but I am not just taking it because of that. I want to further my writing skills and feel more confident when I write. Also I want to be prepared for the more
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
