English Composition One has made a tremendous improvement on my writing skills. My English classes in High School did not quite prepare me for the things that I have learned this year in my class; that did not make a difference or deter my progress in this class. My teacher makes sure everyone comprehends the lesson and how to apply it in our writing. I have learned how to expand on ideas that I usually would have struggled with. I have learned many skills that I will carry along with me and will used to overcome any writing obstacles.
My experiences in English Composition One has restored my confidence in my writing and taught me a lot. Using the drafting and revision exercises has proved to be helpful in my writing. I have learned how to give a proper peer review with more thoughtful statements. I have also learned how to equip my papers with the appropriate MLA format. I have not mastered the skill of including transitional phrases and words within my paper. I have yet to familiarize myself with the formal organization that goes along with the work-cited page but I can do it with a guide; I also can produce the proper in-text citations within my papers. Majority of my English papers requires the use of MLA formatting and citations. I have learned how to produce these skills appropriately and will use them in various drafts in preparation for my final. The use of peer reviews and revision exercises has also had its effects on my writing progress. I enjoy the constructive criticism I receive on my papers and I take those comments into great consideration when revising my papers. I also learned that an effective peer review should include thoughtful comments and should not come off to be rude.
