Thomas had always dreamed, but never quite like this. There were good dreams, and bad, dreams that told the future, and not all of them were just dreams. Some had omens, they warned him of things to come, yet some seemed to have no meaning, they were just dreams. Thomas found himself on a camel at what seemed to be the edge of a great dessert. He didn’t know how he had gotten there, how long he had traveled, or why he was there, all he knew was that there were many palm trees in the distance. He became more aware of the large caravan around him as his confusion faded. The people of the dessert were strange to him. He sat on another palm stump, facing the old man just a few feet away from him. “Have you ever heard of the language of the world?” the Alchemist said with a more excited tone, and a twinkle in his eye. “No I sure have not Sir,” Thomas said. He looked at the old man puzzled, and he continued. “The language of the world is what connects all things,” The Alchemist said as he took a breath to choose his words carefully. “It is nature's soul and it’s history book. The language of the world is what connects the forests and the oceans, to the rocks and mountains, and the animals. It connects each human soul as well,” Said the Alchemist, with speech almost godlike. Thomas was not overwhelmed with this idea as it had similar connotations to that of the ideas of his own people, but coming from the old man it sounded like a speech crafted by the gods themselves. “Then how do we listen to this language of the world,” said Thomas. “Most of us don’t,” said the Alchemist. “But you do,” He paused for a moment to let Thomas think about what he had said. “The soul of the world shares things to story tellers like yourself, you translate for common folk the history and desires of the world,” said the Alchemist with another twinkle in his
