Equal Pay and Pay Equity has been an issue for many decades in the US. Although they are not the same, they are very similar in eliminating discriminatory ways. One particular woman that struggled through this during those times was Mary Kay Ashley. She started the Mary Kay business by the fact that she was training men to be promoted for the job that she was already knowledgeable of, but was denied of promotion. Many women are still going through this till this day, not to mention that it is one of the most influential talks of the president's candidacy. However, many feel that since men are physically stronger than women, they should be paid more for labor. Over the decades, women have been forced to work due to issues with changes in the family unit. They are forced to work hard, while raising children on their own. Therefore, this is proof that women are capable of running an administration or business. Physical strength and mental strength are two different things, so a woman should never be compared to a man's strength but intellect. If they achieved the same education and job experience, they should be awarded the same compensation. In Management by Proverbs, Michael Zigarelli speaks on praising workers for their labor. It boosts the company's image and opportunity for future applicants to desire to join the company. "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates" (Proverbs 31:30-31 KJV). However, this could be different from an office manager in retail, for they would not have the same type of tasks as far as being responsible for public information. Furthermore, this has been a rising issue in the US, because most employers are attempting to approach this issue with fairness, but it has proven to be a difficult matter. Also, Pay Equity is supposed to eliminate discrimination in unfairness of pay with women and people of color, but this is still a huge issue in the US. Moreover, it tackles women and minorities that are in a high percentage for lower paying jobs, when men were given more in pay with the same skills and responsibilities.
