Discrimination is a big issue around the world, even in the twenty first century, it can still be seen by individuals who don’t see others as being equal because of ethnicity, race, religion, or skin colour. In Ferguson, Missouri African Americans are being treated unfairly, resulting in unfair arrest rates and unfair treatment. The reason behind Sigmund Freud being more convincing is because his theories are clearly more applicable to todays society. Even though Freud died seventy-six or so years ago, his theories on these two drives are easily related to the twenty first century. The human race has a clear fascination with death and destruction. Our video games, movies and television shows are starting to contain more and more blood, death, and violence because it is what the people want. Our morbid fascination with death and destruction can even come at the expense of our fellow human beings. Serial killers are an example of peoples fascination with death. It can be said that the serial killers victims names are not nearly remembered as much as the serial killer themselves. Their crimes are not necessarily looked at out of pity for the victims, but rather because of the curiosity of the actions of the serial killer himself. People want to know why the killer chose to kill and what forced him to, looking past the victims entirely. The Thanatos drive for destruction and death is one that humans cannot explain, but rather accept. Humans fascination with death, gore, and destruction is not a new concept, but rather one that needs more attention. The media, movies and television shows we are currently allowing our younger generations to watch is having a positive correlation to aggressive and violent behaviour. We cannot ultimately stop our fascination to death, but rather we should try to suppress
