V. The consumption of alcohol among first year college students is a rising issue in America. Social events such as homecoming, tailgating, pregame, parties, etc. are where the drinking games occur. Drinking games consist of rules that encourage its players to take in large amounts of alcohol while in competition with friends and peers. The main focus of this article is to expose the dangers and severity of early binge drinking and the consequences that can follow. Effects that come with heavy alcohol use are blackouts, unintentional accidents/injuries such as car crashes, increased likelihood of becoming an alcoholic, etc. This article relied on the use of event-specific consumption of alcohol. The studies first target was on whether first-year students ingested more or less alcohol at events where drinking games were hosted. The second target was on the consequences of alcohol. It aimed to see if students’ experiences with alcohol-related consequences were more likely and severe due to he drinking games compared to their normal drinking habits. It was proven that men consume more alcohol than women during drinking games, but women face more consequences. The last target in this article was comparing who were more likely to report their drinking consequences such as social-interpersonal, risk behavior, or blackouts and the following consequences. As expected, the chances for experiencing social-interpersonal, risk behavior, and blackout consequences were raised by 24%, 16%, and 38%. These studies were based on random first-year students between the ages of 18 and 20 years old from a public university. 75.2% of the selected group reported alcohol use within the past month.
