This Essay critically evaluates the assumption that Human beings behaviour towards their health is embedded in them and therefore levelled at each individual. However, there are factors that contribute to their behaviour such as the impact the environment has on them. People generally live in an ecosystem that comprises of interaction between organisms and the environment. For example, Charles Darwin studied the adaptations of life and living organisms, and came out with the idea of Natural Selection, where organisms adapt to their environment or else is in danger of becoming extinct, this idea brought about evolution, and basically organisms are affected by their environment and alter their behaviour to ensure their survival. In order to change the way in which people perceive their health. They have to eliminate obstacles in their way. (Pg.189). Instead of solving the problem some people act as though the problem is one of their possessions which they own. A Critical Community Psychologist argues that “small-scale local efforts to bring about change at the level of face-to-face groups of individuals, families or peer groups are deeply conservative".(Pg.191). Governments’ need to focus more on the idea of changing the way in which money is spent. More money should be invested to bring about a change instead of small efforts (pg191). They also argue that community psychologists should take into consideration and not disregard limitations conveyed by institutions that could affect them. Aims to improve Health-related behaviour should not only be changes to the person psychologically but also through “partnerships between members of marginalized groupings and more powerful individuals and agencies who have structural power..."(Pg.191). Many Community projects serve to help people cope with certain social circumstances that undermine their health. Other factors that could affect their health is racism and poverty. Poverty in a sense where people cannot locate certain facilities because they might live in a rural area, away from the city, therefore won't be able to access such facilities such as condoms
