Discrimination in American Criminal Justice This is an essay about Discrimination in American criminal justice. Now I believe that there is a discrimination in criminal justice here because of all the stories you hear about nowadays and because of how many stereotypes just go floating around. Some of the stories you hear about with criminal discrimination is against African American people and Hispanic and Latino people and especially against African American teens. In this first paragraph I will be talking about criminal discrimination in America against all people first. So first things first I am going to bring up the incarceration rates of all men in America “the incarceration rate for men in the United States was 943 per 100,000; disaggregating by race, this drops to 487 for white males, rising to 1,261 for Hispanic and Latino males and a staggering 3,042 for African American males.”. So with those incarceration rates I added them all together and got a total of 4,790 so after I divided the non added original number and then divided them by 4,790 and the results for white men was …show more content…
Age is one of the key factors especially in young men because this is key part in their lives where they have to worry about jobs and providing enough to have a life and go to college. Low education also becomes a factor because if you have a low education you are less likely to get a good job or even any job and will eventually make some people turn to criminal and low education for some cops could cause them to not be as well educated on the actual statistics and make them believe these stereotypes. And the final factor that I think plays into discrimination is back to the stereotyping that we grow up thinking are true but actually aren’t. So those are the factors that I believe cause discrimination in American criminal
