The Interesting god Apollo Have you ever heard of the ancient Greek god Apollo. Apollo, the god of the sun, healing, music, and poetry, was a god with many tales and myths about him that have been told for thousands of years in Greek mythology. Apollo had a very interesting life and many myths and tales about it too. He was a well known god to many people and other gods as well. The stories of Apollo have been enjoyed by many for a long time. Apollo, like many other Greek gods, represented a lot of different things. One of the things that he represented was being the god of the sun. He made sure the sun would rise and set every day. Apollo also was the god of healing. He taught mankind the art of healing and medicine to help them survive. He showed his power of healing not only through him but through his son too. Another thing Apollo was the god of was music and poetry. His music was said to be so wonderful that it would hypnotise people or put them in a kind of hypnotic state. He would often play music for the gods, especially Zeus. Apollo represented many things but these are only a few of them. Apollo was a very important god to many people and other gods as well. Another myth told about Apollo is that he killed Hyacinthus in a discus throwing contest. Apollo threw a discus in the air and the wind god, who he was competing with, caused the wind to blow and the discus curved and hit Hyacinthus killing him. Another tale about Apollo is that he killed all the cyclops. Zeus killed Apollo’s son with his lightning bolt so to get revenge he killed all the cyclops who gave Zeus his lightning bolt.
