Many parents who expect to have a child would expect that child to function as normally as any other child they've come into contact with, but when their doctor says otherwise, it seems like the worst news that they have ever heard. Getting a diagnosis from a doctor or even through school saying that your child has autism can be very difficult to cope with as a parent.
