5/26/18 America has many issues, ask anyone and they’ll tell you that. Most of them we are trying to fix, and it’s not easy when there are so many different voices speaking for different sides of each issue. One major issues is crime and violence, we have had many reports of it and something needs to be done. Don’t believe me? Well read this, most crimes are not reported to police, and most reported crimes are not solved. This is why a lot of people say there is too much crime and violence, but looking at records you won’t see the half of it. Murder rates are far higher in the United States than in Europe, Japan, or even Canada. Which is crazy, we are one of the most developed countries in the world. Murder rates have increased in some cities. That is because of poverty too. One of the main reasons that crime and violence is such a big problem in America is because a lot of the crimes aren’t reported and then those …show more content…

This does have a lot to do with the fact that these cities have two sides. One side is the side that most tourists go to see and the other side is the side that is covered in poverty. You know what I’m talking about too, some people pretend that it’s not true and others try to help. This is where a lot of crime and violence occurs, there is almost always a connection between poverty and crime. “Similarly, murder rates in the 30 largest cities increased by 13.2 percent in 2015 and an estimated 14 percent in 2016.” (The American Prospect 1). And the bigger the city it seems the more the crimes are committed. “More than half of the 2015 urban increase (51.8 percent) was caused by just three cities, Baltimore, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. And Chicago alone was responsible for 43.7 percent of the rise in urban murders in 2016.” (The American Prospect 1).
