It is recommended to go to see a dentist twice a year. This causes many Americans to know what dentists do, but many do not know what it really takes to be a dentist. Dentists have many duties everyday at their job, like, filling cavities, and repairing fractured teeth, and taking x-rays of people 's jaws and teeth (Dentists). “They provide advice and instruction on taking care of the teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health” (Dentists). The thought of being able to help people feel good about their teeth and themselves is what is intriguing to many people like myself. I investigated what it means to be a dentist. Some common questions about dentistry are, where to go to college and what to take there, and if there will be any place to be employed, and what is the salary and lifestyle of a dentist, and what the job is like. There are quite a few colleges to go to get a good dental degree. A dentist with about 5 years experience would make about $108,360 a year. A limiting factor is all the years of college you have to attend and the cost of all the school (Dentists, General). The family life of being a dentist would be busy sometimes, but not all the time. You might not get to spend as much time with your kids, but they will be at school the same time you’re working so, normally you would get to spend the evening with them
