In the human body has more than 220 different types of cells. All of those cell types are derived from a group of cells known as embryonic stem cells. These distinctive cells come from the inner cell mass of a blastocyst which is a young embryo roughly four to five days old. Embryonic stem cells are stem cells are resultant from the undifferentiated inner mass cells of a human embryo. Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent, meaning they are able to grow into all derivatives of the three primary germ layers: ectoderm, endoderm and mesoderm. The endoderm (refers to inside) consists of the stomach, intestines, and the lungs. The mesoderm consists mainly of the muscle, blood, and bone, the ectoderm (refers to outer) is your skin and nervous system. These cells have the ability to repair almost any part of the human body, and that is what makes embryonic stem cells so unique. The drawing out of embryonic stem cells involves the obliteration of an embryo, which upsets and outrages some policy makers and researchers as well as a number of members of the public. Their main reason of being upset: A potential life has been lost; a unique individual has been killed without being given a chance to see the world and help change it. This is looked upon as an abortion, which some people look at as murder. Qur'an 6:151 says, “and do not kill a soul that God has made sacrosanct, save lawfully.” One of the ten commandments is ‘You shall not murder’, so even though these are just a few verses out of many from these two holy books, you can already see that murder is frowned upon and why it is such a huge deal to the people who are against the extraction of embryonic stem
