Keith Lamont Scott , a 43-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on September 20, 2016, in Charlotte, North Carolina by Brentley Vinson, an African-American city police officer. Gun Control laws has been a hot topic in America, due to the overwhelming death rates caused by guns. According to CNN reports guns are responsible for over 31,000 deaths in America. Guns should be banned because it would decrease the death rates, school shootings and police brutality.
One reason guns should be banned in North Carolina because it will decrease death rates. The fact that efficiency of guns in reducing crimes were true, the U.S would have the lowest homicide rate among industrialized countries instead of the highest homicide …show more content…

Guns cause violence which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows . The Brady Bill and the assault weapons ban, both of which went into effect in 1994, are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates which have been declining since 1991. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapon (Harry2014). At gun shows there a lot of guns available such as pistols and rifles. A person who has mental issues can walk into a gun show and shoot everyone. Police in the United States in 2011 shot more than 1,100 people killing 607. According to the FBI 323 people were killed nationwide by rifles in 2011. Shootings by the police accounted for almost 10 percent of the homicides in Los Angeles county in 2010. Nationwide 10 percent of the killings with rifles were committed by law enforcement officers according to the FBI.
