The United States has more mass shootings than anywhere else in the world. It’s time to change that so the citizens could live in a safer country. Gun-related violence is becoming a problem in the United States because of the lack of strong laws. There are many reasons as to why we need tighter laws for guns such as the fact that not all people who buy guns are healthy mentally and abuse the privilege to have a gun, the number of mass shootings has only been increasing throughout the years, and tighter regulations to reduce gun-related violence.

Most people who commit murders with a gun have some form of a mental illness. They abuse their privilege to own a gun and purposely harm many people. On February 14, 2018, a school shooting took place in Parkland, Florida leaving 17 dead. The killer Nikolas Cruz had been …show more content…

Instead of living in anarchy there are laws and bans the United States government can create to decrease gun violence and improve the safety of every citizen. Currently, gun laws aren’t very strong and people can warp these rules. In states down south ”an undocumented migrant is not allowed to get a driver's license. But anyone--even a member of the MS-13 gang without papers--can potentially walk into a gun show and buy a semiautomatic rifle. Organized crime groups are taking advantage of this every day”(Grillo OL). The laws to get a driver’s license are much more stronger than the ones to acquire a gun. The government needs to change this people are usurping guns quite easily and are abusing them by harming people. Some gun shows don’t even require proof of citizenship. People could,”go to one of the many weekend gun shows around Dallas and take advantage of the so-called gun show loophole to buy firearms from private sellers without a background check or proof of citizenship”(Grillo OL).
