The heart is one of the most important organs in the body, but unfortunately heart disease can weaken the cardiovascular system which could lead to fatal effects on this vital organ. The heart is the strongest organ in the body, pumping blood 70 times a minute (Avoiding Heart Attacks and Strokes), so if it becomes damaged, consequently the whole body becomes damaged (Allen 34). More than 60 million Americans suffer from some sort of cardiovascular disease (“Heart Disease”). Ideally, people would want to control these factors in hope of preventing attacks or strokes which could eventually lead to death. Some of the reasons one may suffer from a heart disease is because they have high blood pressure or hypertension, has family members who have heart problems, smokes, or does not exercise and is therefore overweight (“Heart disease”). Heart diseases can also mainly affect elderly people (“Heart Disease”), but this does not mean younger people can not develop a heart disease as well. The problems and outcomes that come with cardiovascular disease are heart attacks, strokes, Angina, Atherosclerosis, and Arteriosclerosis (“Heart Disease”). If a doctor suspects that a patient has a heart disease, the doctor can run tests such as a Carotid artery scan, Echocardiogram, Catheterization, and other tests to make sure if the patient is not a potential victim (“Heart disease”). This goes to show that these problems can have a detrimental effect on a person’s health. If one wishes to avoid these medical emergencies and live a long, healthy life, they should consider making the conscious decision of leading a healthy way of life. Examples of the surgeries people undergo if they have a heart disease are Angioplasty, Valve replacement, Pacemakers, Bypass surgery, Carotid endarterectomy, and Atherectomy (“Heart disease”). Changes a person can make in life are quitting smoking, exercising for at least 30 minutes a day, and improving their diet by eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables. Even starting healthy habits as early as childhood can wipe out almost any worry of developing a heart disease later on in life if that person does not have any biological factors that contribute to them developing one. It does not matter if giving up smoking, getting into exercise, or trying to adapt to a healthier diet is difficult, he or she should still continue on with these changes if they want to continue living a happy
