I would love to get to know all of the other girls and form lifelong friendships. Being able to share these connections would have an amazing impact on my college experience as a whole. I will also further develop my professional and leadership skills through Gems. This organization will provide me with an opportunity grow as a leader through the different committees. Working to help the community will also improve my professional skills by interacting with a diverse group of people.
Being selected and serving in The National Honor Society would truly be a honor. Being selected into this program would be important to me because of the opportunities it offers. I have heard of The National Honor Society but never had to the chance to serve in it. This being my first time would really allow me to immerse myself in beneficial learning and serving along side my peers. I will be able to expand my leadership skills while being able to serve my community that I longing wanted to give back to because of all it has given me throughout my life here in Columbus.
Besides my leadership, my service skills need to improve. I've never been a person that volunteer's much but im willing to improve for I can be admitted. My character has always been the same. I want be to successful.
I am competitive; I look for the chance to run the extra mile. My competitive nature has aided in everything I commit myself to. Regardless if I am participating in a sporting event, competing for a solo in a musical production, or preparing for a final, I will indubitably devote my time and efforts to perform as well as possible. I take every opportunity that is presented to me and attempted to better not only myself but my community as well. I am confident that the Honors College at the College of Charleston will enable me to devote my attention to my studies, become actively involved within campus activities and academic assemblies, and offer my time and abilities to charitable events and organizations.
The first unique quality that I can bring to this program is dependability. One thing that I am very proud of is that I have never missed or skipped a class in college. I take my classes very seriously and will do the same for the classes and observation hours in the program. This Athletic Training Program requires early hour observations and I think my dependable character can be trusted by the staff that I will always show up, which is sometimes the most important thing.
Here at Babson I am in the process of creating a startup company, and my group has gone through most of the stages it takes to start a company. I have gained knowledge from my experiences both in and outside of the classroom and can apply it to the summer program. I also know what it takes to be a leader. I was the treasurer of my chapter for Business Professionals of America as well as the Director of March Madness at my high school for two years- we held many sporting events where the proceeds were donated to charity. Additionally, I am the starting goalie for Babson Field Hockey
Being a Bank of America student leader would be a great opportunity to gain experience and be more involved with my community. I will learn skills that I can use for the rest of my life and build and network relations. I think that Bank of America Student Leadership should choose me because I have a lot of leadership qualities and I am very compassionate. I would make a good leader for the organization because my priority is to help others. My second quality is that I am very reliable.
The Honors College would provide many opportunities for the expansion of my education and global perspectives. I would take advantage of all the opportunities granted, and broaden my education as much as possible. Getting involved in the ECU community and making college not only an academic experience but a life experience is what makes me most excited and most hopeful to be part of the Honors
Oak cliff, a place where gunshots and sirens are familiar sounds, never really knowing what is going around you. That’s where I grew up- living in constant fear, wondering if I will ever be able to escape this detrimental, disastrous of an area. Being surrounded by strangers who constrict you of becoming who you want to be. (These families and children have been brainwashed with the idea of not seeking education beyond high school because of where they live and its reputation.) But my family has always pushed the idea to put an effort to become an individual of importance and to never settle for less but seek opportunities.
I first found out I wanted to be in business when my family and I were living in down town Grand Junction. We had just moved in and recently lost our car in an accident but we were fortunate enough to have some bikes given to us, so on days that I didn’t work the kids and I would ride down to the library where they would pick books and movies to check out while I would use the computers to search and apply for jobs and one day my better half Haley says to me “why don’t we apply for school? We’re not getting any younger and we aren’t as financially stable as we would like to be”. So I thought about the talk we had all week at my call center job until my next day off and we went to the library
From the reading of “Reframing the Path to School Leadership, “ there were two things that stood out to me the most. Those two things included inclusion, which is very big today, and resistance. In the chapter, Joan replied, “What bothers me is that they’re (school leaders) trying to be inclusive without giving teachers the support they need (Bolman, & Deal, 2010 p. 46) In my own opinion, I believe inclusive education strengthen the education system. What it does is reach out to all learners and that they be understood.
Through experience we develop and hone our leadership proficiency. I will set goals in the following three areas, to continue my growth and serve our team as a leader in the organization. 1. Leaders inspire commitment, and know they cannot command it. I will describe a compelling image of what our future could be like.
The first thing I want to bring to the cohort would be my leadership experiences. I know that I share Duke’s value of placing great emphasize on the sense of community for the students and I always have a strong commitment to the organization that I’m involve with. During my second year at AIESEC (the world’s largest student run organization), the previous executive team left unexpectedly during a crisis. The organization was on the verge of collapsing.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time. I consider myself a leader, i believe this because i am the type of person that feels like if i am not the one to do it then it will not be done the right way. Whenever i would work in groups i would designate myself to be the one to do the harder assignment, because i only trusted that would take it serious, not anyone else. Also, whenever i do anything that involves a team, i like to take control, because i feel like i am the best one to work under pressure or i can choose the best solution for any situation.
