While some believe that incarceration is the answer for a juvenile delinquent, imposing a prison sentence should ultimately be the last resort for rehabilitating are violent or non-violent youth; pending on the level of the crime. By level I by definition I mean murder, even then it should be established if he or she has some psychotic problems; which to commit a murder at that age is probable. Childhood delinquency has been on the rise since as early as the 50’s, as result of technology such television, music and social media youth has had access to sex, violence or just about anything that a child should not be a witness to. Which could ultimately be the reason why it has been on the rise, social media which is used by majority youth who are constantly introduced to media violence. An undeveloped mind well not be able to define realty and often idolize the bad influence they discover on the T.V or internet. According to data retrieved from analysis, during adolescence the human mind is still in developing stages. There are many functions of the brain that are not fully developed until the mid to late 20’s; such as complex reasoning. Therefore, the processes and decision-making of youths are not equivalent to that of adults; for this reason you can place a minor in the same classification as an adult.
