By definition the phrase liberty and justice for all represents the idea that each citizen is equal under the law. As Americans, citizens are guaranteed the right to vote; the right to be free; as well as the right to equality, regardless of their race, sex, or religion. The growth in America’s history proves that the American flag and Pledge of Allegiance have promoted liberty and justice for everyone. It is the drastic change from times such as the Colonial era; when women and enslaved African Americans were seen as inferior to white men, to where the nation is now; having had an African American president as well as a woman nominee for a presidential election, that expresses how America as a whole has managed to eliminate all these struggles today. America has grown as a country, century by century. Under the law all human beings are created and treated equally in the general public today, as stated in the Declaration of Independence. Since the Colonial Era to present day, the American lifestyle has become to be known differently. African Americans are no longer enslaved, woman are more involved in politics and most importantly the land known as America is the land known to be free. The same opportunities are open to everyone in the nation no matter their race or sex, and the same rights are given to everyone in the nation no matter their race or sex. The growth in American society has continuously been shown through the equality, rights and opportunities provided for everyone under the law and this is how the United States has managed to live up to the countries claim and promise in their Pledge of Allegiance that the American flag represents liberty and justice for
