Nearly 10 million young people, ages 12 to 20, reported that they've consumed alcohol in the past 30 days. The Drinking Age should not be lowered for the health and the safety of human beings. Somethings that can be caused from underage drinking aggressive behavior, property damage, injury, violence, and death. Alcohol reduces our ability to think straight and it narrows the focus of attention and gives one tunnel vision. Binge drinking increases the likelihood of both becoming aggressive and being on receiving end of someone else temper. Alcohol often has a strong effect on people and throughout history, people have struggled to understand and manage alcohol’s power. Many studies show that alcohol can often be a gateway substance often leading to experimentation of other illicit drugs or more heavy drug abuse. And more often than not, these lives altering habits can be last for quite some time. Among high-risk youth, those who may be at increased risk for adverse Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) use outcomes may benefit from targeted prevention efforts; how youth acquire AOD may provide an objective means of identifying youth at elevated risk. All efforts are necessary for early prevention and intervention, school campaigns, TV ads and social media all need to make a better attempt to get this message out there.
