Band has been a big part of my high school career. I participated in both marching and concert bands. There were many opportunities to grow and succeed in each band. I also did solo and ensemble where I was able to get more directed feedback about my music. Being part of the music program has allowed me to grow as a musician and learn to work with others. The band community has had a positive impact on my high school experience.
Band has been one of the things I was always excited about. It is a great community that is willing to work even when things get difficult. No matter what, we would get each other through the work to succeed at performances. In band, I learned leadership skills and good ways to work with others. I liked working as a group to create beautiful music. I am happy to have participated in marching and concert band as well as solo and ensemble. I liked being able to work with my section and the whole band to have an enjoyable and successful season. I enjoyed the chance to work more with other sections that we do not get to work with during concert band. I also liked the many chances to perform. Performing at Disney is one of my favorite memories. We were able to march through Disney while supporting our school and having fun. Before every performance, we had a pep talk from both the directors and the section leaders. I was on both the receiving and the giving end of the preperformance pep talks. The pep talks were a great way to encourage each other directly before a performance as well as prepare each other to do what we always do.
