"The US Government has control of much more than simply the laws of our nation. The extent to which they have control is in a way too much. When the privacy of the people starts to be compromised by the monitoring of the government, enough is enough. Net neutrality became an important issue to the public in late 2017. It may have been an issue prior but the people had a deeper understanding of how it could affect them. Net neutrality is the ability to have access to all internet applications without additional fees. The net neutrality bill was going to make internet users pay to simply search something on google. There are amendments to the Constitution that have limits to what the governments and courts can do and the control over the internet falls under the categories of some of them. Freedom of Speech, Expression, and the Press protect the people from Internet monitoring. If there is a freedom to publish, post, and write about what someone wants to write then the government has no right to stop the publishing of sed article. If the article goes to the extent of slander or another criminal act and it is brought to the attention of the government, then they should have the right to monitor the content. The National Security Agency monitors the internet directly based on communications with foreign affairs. The overall control of cyberspace is determined not only within our nation, but with allies as well. The US government cannot make laws about the use of cyberspace and the internet without the consultation of other countries.
