The new president and congress has many public policies to deal with in the following years, including climate change, the deficit our country faces, poverty, social security and education. However, the most present issue the new president and the new congress will have to deal with is healthcare. President Trump already signed an executive order which repeals the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare. President Trump had promised the people that this would be the first thing he would do. However, he did not presented a replacement for the Affordable Care Act. Thousands of people were receiving medical service thanks to the Affordable Care Act, which also helped those with an existing condition. The act made sure that no one was denied medical care because of any existing history. Weather it was cancer, heart diseases or diabetes, no insurance company could discriminate against them. This act saved the lives of many people who would have not been able to have an insurance before. Young adults also beneficiated from the Affordable Care Act, it allowed them to stay in their parents insurance until they were twenty six years old. This allowed young adults to be included into the system. Most young adults do not think about having an insurance, since they are not prone to so many diseases as older people. However, the Affordable Care Act made sure they were still insured even if they thought they did not need it. The Affordable Care Act also included Planned Parenthood, which made sure that young girls received birth control options to avoid a teen pregnancy. It also helped women who wanted or needed to get an abortion. Making sure that these programs are replaced by a new law it is extremely important, we must insure that our citizens are healthy to help push the country forward. So many will be affected if the new president and new congress does not take action
