Millions of people all over the planet view the world through sad and desperate eyes due to the flourishing abundance of poverty in the world. The amount of suffering is overwhelming and encountered by all ages. Even in tiny villages in Kenya young girls and boys must walk nine miles every day for a simple pail of water. Poverty has affected over 80% of the population over the years. “Statistics show that people living in poverty are living off of an average of $1.75 every day” (Global Poverty 1). The average American typically spends $140 each day; imagine what a poor child in Africa could accomplish with that kind of money! Even in large cities, the poverty rate is high and only increasing. Endless amounts of wealth and food are taken for granted. The issue of worldwide poverty should come to an end to ensure hope for the less fortunate, and improve the economy drastically. One solution to the poverty that is consuming the population is child sponsorship, which is a brilliant tactic used all over the world. Many organizations such as Child Fund and Food for the Hungry have found ways to strategically improve the lives of countless impoverished children.
