Roller coaster Safety How many accidents will it take until safety precautions on roller coasters are made stricter? About 4,400 children a year are hurt on roller coaster rides; that’s up to 20 kids a day! Making safety precautions on roller coasters stricter will be benefiting by lowering the accident rate, making roller coasters run smoother, and overall will make people feel safer, so it is important that everyone focuses on making roller coasters safer. One thing that officials should do to make roller coasters safer is to try to lower the accident rate. They could make a change in the seat belts by making them more secure to prevent any falling or slipping out of rides. “Nine people came to be stranded 60 ft in the air for up to eight hours.” Accidents like this could be easily prevented by having more intense checks on the rides to make sure everything is working correctly. The last thing that I think should be done to lower the accident rate on roller coasters is to overall have more test runs of the coaster.
