When defining socialism, one could say that it is the advocating of collective or governmental ownership of production and distribution of good. Another definition of socialism could be a system of society or group where there is no private property. No matter how socialism is defined, it is the idea that everyone has equal opportunity to everything in life. In socialism, there is no such thing as “the rich getting richer” or “the poor becoming poorer”. At time socialism is mistaken for communism and there are some similarities in both, but there are some differences as well. Unlike many citizens today, socialism is all for social security, assistant living programs, various affordable healthcare programs, and higher minimum wage. The concept of economic equality in socialism is simple: every citizen should be able to have a home to sleep in, food to eat, access to healthcare, and able to earn enough wages to support themselves.
