Junior Learns Life Lessons
Everyone goes through tough times in life, and you need someone there for you. In the book, Junior and Rowdy experience this several times throughout the story. The book was called The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian which was written by Sherman Alexie. The main characters in this book were Junior, Rowdy, and Rogers. In the book, there are two boys which are Junior and Rowdy. They are best friends up to the point where Junior leaves Rowdy by going to a different high school. This made Rowdy furious, which caused their relationship to rapidly dissipate. This book is about a boy named Junior and he is friends with Rowdy. Junior abandons Rowdy by leaving to go to an all-white school, in the book Junior has just lost his best friend. In the book Junior has changed by taking more pride in how he overcame challenges and had accomplished his goals. At the beginning of the book, Junior approaches Rowdy and tells him that he is leaving the Rez high school to go to Rearden, which is an all-white school. Rowdy can not believe this and Rowdy and Junior start to separate and their relationship is abruptly coming to a stop. “ I was the kind of idiot that got punched hard in the face by his best friend. Bang! Rowdy punched me”(pg. 230). Junior and Rowdy have had a tough relationship making Junior depressed and Rowdy….just angry. This friendship was a challenge that Junior faces in the beginning of the book. When the book nears to the end, where Juniors sister had just died by being burned alive, Junior runs away from the funeral and runs into the forest and bumps into Rowdy making this an awkward moment for both of them. Near the end of the book Junior and Rowdy are not the best of friends like they used to be, but they are
