The American Revolution was a war fought between Great Britain and the American colonies over independence from 1775 to 1783 which resulted in a fundamental change in American politics, society, and economics. The major events that led to the American Revolution were the French and Indian War, Stamp Act, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party and Lexington Concord. The first main event leading up to the American Revolution was the French and Indian War. The English won this war, but they were put greatly in debt. Obviously, this resulted in very bad things. This lead the British to put taxes on the colonies, and the colonists were very upset. It began in 1754 and ended in 1763.

One of the first measures passed to raise revenue from the American colonies was a tax on sugar. Grenville designed the American Revenue Act of l764, commonly known as the Sugar Act, The Molasses Act Molasses became too expensive to produce because of increased price in obtaining it. Effects of the Molasses Act This new tax created a lot of economic growth problems. The colonists were limited to how many ports they could trade with.

Four of the Intolerable Acts were specifically aimed at punishing the colonists in Boston. The main force of its actions fell on Boston, which seemed to be the center of colonial hostility. Angered by the Boston tea Party. The Quartering which had been allowed to expire in 1770. Passed on June 2, 1774, the new Quartering Act applied to all of British America and gave colonial governors the right to requisition unoccupied buildings to house British troops.
