This paper is about vicarious trauma. Vicarious trauma can also be the same as secondary trauma. It affects the people surrounding the person that was traumatized. It can be the police officer that helped them, the nurse, their family members or anyone that has some type of contact or connection to the victim. Vicarious trauma can be extremely bad especially when it is not taking care of properly. In this study, they qualitatively “examine the coexistence of vicarious resilience and vicarious trauma and explores the inclusion of interpersonal identities in trauma work with torture survivors in specialized programs across the United States”. People that help trauma victims can be so destabilize by what they saw and heard that they separate themselves from the people surrounding them and be quiet for a period of time. I think they can loose their appetite too or find comfort in food. Some people can loose their hair, loose weight and more. Lack of sleep and nightmares causes fatigue too so that decreases their ability to work well during the day. Irritability affect the way they work with their co-workers which again that doesn’t help with the efficacy of the job. It also affects the person’s family and relationship when they are irritated all the time because of what happens to their victims and not because their partners or family did something. An example can be the doctor that was so smart but very rude to his nurses. He worked a lot and had so much knowledge but he still ended up committing suicide. Someone that helps victims all the time mostly hear about the horrible things in the world so they can end up having suicidal thoughts because they believe the world is a horrible place and, they can also be extremely paranoid for themselves and their loved
