College is a time where we leave the home we’ve known and I can see my new home being Illinois State University. It is a time to grow and refine yourself. Illinois State University is a place I know I would be a great fit for me. Not only is it the best place in the state to get a Construction Management degree, it’s a great University to be a part of. I have visited many times and I love it. It’s a wonderful university filled with wonderful people and may things to do! Ever since I was a freshman in high school I knew I wanted to help create and build great things. When I graduated from high school I believed that engineering was for me.
After a year of engineering at college and two engineering internships, I decided it was not all I thought it was. I drifted through the following semesters in a sort of limbo. Not sure what I wanted to do, I put less work into school and I suffered the consequences. My grades slipped. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue with a degree. Since I couldn’t decide I just took classes to be still be in school. This was a terrible idea as I didn’t really care about the classes and had no reason to focus or put effort towards them. I am a very driven person and I work to tirelessly to get to my goals. I was never really driven in school but after seeing a physiatrist to help me with my life, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Once I started medication. My school work and life skills have steadily improved. I have grown and reinvented myself significantly to pursue my goals. I have been working hard to get good grades. This has been a real challenge, but to help me reach my goals I am learning new skills and developing as a person.
