The Korean War: Controversy Surrounding MacArthur and Truman Often referred to as the forgotten war, the Korean war had a significant impact on America’s domestic and foreign affairs. The two most important figures in the war were General Douglas MacArthur and President Harry S. Truman. During the war, a controversy regarding Truman’s dismissal of MacArthur, commander of the US army in Korea, loomed over Truman’s presidency. General MacArthur was a prominent five-star American General who was well liked by the public at that time. MacArthur’s great fame came with his service in the Pacific during World War II.
Schools should have open campus lunches. It gives the students a break for the day from the entire thing that is stressing them out. While some people may think that it is a good idea for our principal to change our lunch menus to something much more healthy I think it is a bad idea for our principal to change it, the reasons why I feel that it should not be changed is because most student's pay for lunch, most student's will not eat the food, most student's buy snacks at lunch. Every senior should be able to eat food off campus. Getting lunch outside of campus also exposes students to a huge variety of responsibilities. West Side High School has off campus lunch and the students love it and more students are showing up to school and being way more responsible in their decisions. The eating time in public schools for lunch breaks is a huge problem. This is a problem because kids don't get to finish their lunch in time and that the kids would be hungry for the rest of the day seeing kids are not able to eat any other time of the day because of rules (Unless they have snack time) even if they have snack time this is still a problem. I have been in school for thirteen years, a staggering 76% of my life; and after all this time nothing has changed. Every single day I get served the same unhealthy, inedible lunch. It is something I can no longer do, I will no longer sacrifice myself to clench my hunger and thirst with this nauseating, unsavory, unappetizing food. Yes breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many of us do not get to eat breakfast because we are rushing to get to school. So why not fight for a better school lunch that all kids can enjoy and energize from?
Stress has become a major issue for high school students. Many students have seven classes, participate in sports, have after school activities, homework, and need to get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Some parents and outside influencers don’t see the benefits of having a longer lunch period for high school students. Students complain about how long school is now but they don 't have enough time outside of school to complete everything they are expected to. While it is understandable that some parents wouldn’t want longer lunches because it could result in safety issues and students having to remain in school 30 minutes longer than the traditional time, longer lunches would give students a chance to complete homework, get help from teachers, and eat a nutritious meal.
Imagine a school that has multiple healthy school food options, that is worth standing in line for. I think that all schools should have a healthy school lunch. It's very important to have nutritious school lunches so that we can be healthy and have energy during the school day. I think we should have better and healthier school menus. Our school menus are very high in cholesterol and saturated fat.
